The Broke and the Bookish is a group of college aged and twenty somethings that have an unhealthy obsession with reading and would spend every last penny on books even if it meant skipping a few meals. We are the people who lurk in the library, buy handbags based on how many books can be stashed in them, and who refer to characters in books as if they are personal friends. We sought after other bookish college students to share in our love for reading and were brought together by the College Students group on Goodreads that was created in September 2008. Our desire to share great books with each other in and our tendency to be opinionated and passionate about all things book related naturally led to the birth of The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010.
Hi! Great idea to have boarding schools as your setting! This is the first time I'm participating in this. It's definitely fun!
ReplyDeleteBoarding school stories are popular for today's lists! I almost chose this topic as well, but then I realized I hadn't actually read that many great boarding school stories. Guess I need to try some of your recommendations, huh? Happy TTT!
ReplyDeleteI have Kiss Me, Kill Me, but I haven't read it yet. I didn't know it was set in a boarding school?! That makes it way more enticing. I love Boarding School settings ;)
ReplyDeleteBoarding school is a great setting - I loved the Worst Witch series, which is also set in one.

Good list, I love Looking for Alaska and Harry Potter as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list! I love boarding school books. A Great and Terrible Beauty and Harry Potter are also on my list, though mine was books set in England. There are some books on this list that I just might have to add to my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.

ReplyDeleteA Great and Terrible Beauty - YES. HARRY POTTER - YES! Mockinbirds and Anna YES YES! So many great books :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I am obsessed with books that take place in boarding schools, mainly because part of me kept hoping my parents would send me to one! Maybe in my next life when I'm filthy rich. There are a few of these that I haven't read yet. Now that I know they take place in boarding schools I'm going to change that!
